Landscapes of the Scottish Borders

Scottish Borders

Lying in the south-east corner of Scotland, between Edinburgh and the Lothians to the north and the English border to the south, the Scottish Borders is a sparsely populated area, much of which forms the catchment of the River Tweed.

Its varied scenery ranges from high coastal cliffs and arable farmland in the east to rolling heather-covered and forested uplands in the north and west and sheep-grazed hills in the south.

In the valleys there are many large estates with policy woodlands laid out around mansion houses. It is this diversity of scenery which makes the Scottish Borders a delightful place to photograph.
